Seeds of Hope Kenya is dedicated to empowering adolescent girls and young women (AGYWs) in Kisii County and Nyamira County, providing them with a voice, control over their bodies, and opportunities for education and healthcare. We work at the grassroots level to address gender-based violence, promote women's rights, and foster their economic empowerment for a brighter future.
Women have the right to decide freely and responsibly on matters related to sexuality. We work collaboratively with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure women are well-informed and empowered to make decisions about their sexuality, protect themselves from STIs, exercise family planning choices, and maintain proper menstrual hygiene. At seeds of hope Kenya, we ensure that Women and girls lead a violent-free life. Those at the grassroots with limited livelihoods get to be economically empowered and benefit from development. We ensure that adolescent girls get proper menstrual hygiene support. We also participate in ensuring that women get to leadership levels and participate in decision making Processes.
Seeds of hope Kenya supports community based dialogues aimed at changing social and cultural perceptions, attitudes and traditional practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early marriages, that contribute to Violence Against Women and Girls. We support trainings for law enforcement staff on gender rights, case management and handling of victims, and also advocate for removing barriers to access justice.
Seeds of hope Kenya nurtures women’s participation in the economy through advocacy to leverage resources, particularly through agriculture and SMEs. The aim is to make women key players in wealth creation. On the other hand, seeds of hope Kenya actively capacity build women on issues of land rights and property ownership.
Seeds of hope Kenya runs a pad drive that ensures young and adolescent girls in rural areas get sanitary towel frequently. We also ensure that they are given knowledge on issues of menstrual hygiene, body anatomy changes and what it means to them.
Seeds of hope Kenya supports groups of women leaders across the political divide to lobby and identify effective strategies for protecting women’s social, economic and political rights. We work with other stakeholders to domesticate the convention to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women.

Ruth Manoti is an esteemed gender and human rights activist, widely recognized for her unwavering commitment to social justice. With a Bachelor's degree in Communication and currently pursuing her Master's in Development Studies, she possesses a solid academic foundation in the fields of communication and development.
Ruth has also undergone specialized training in leadership and management, equipping her with the skills necessary to effectively lead and advocate for change. Her passion for promoting women's participation in leadership positions led her to be nominated as a candidate for the 2022 General Election in Kenya, representing a political party.
Dedicated to empowering women, Ruth has consistently dedicated her efforts to uplift grassroots communities. She has actively worked to improve the lives of women and girls, recognizing the importance of their empowerment for societal progress. As a member of the Lake Region Economic Block Human Rights under KHRC, she contributes to the advancement of human rights in the region. Additionally, Ruth serves as the Secretary to the founding members of KETI (Kisii Endelevu Trust Initiative), an umbrella organization that brings together civil society organizations in Kisii, with support from USAID and the Aga Khan Foundation.
Ruth's involvement extends to various gender-focused working groups, where she contributes her expertise and insights. She has been an active member of the Gender Technical Working Group in Kisii County, Kenya, advocating for gender equality and women's rights. Furthermore, she has also been a valuable member of the HIV/AIDS Gender Technical Working Group, working to address the unique challenges faced by women in relation to HIV/AIDS. Passionate about sustainable development, Ruth envisions a future where communities can thrive while preserving the environment and promoting social equity.
Her drive for sustainable development is rooted in her belief that long-term progress is only achievable when it is i nclusive and considers the well-being of all individuals. As the founding director of Seeds Of Hope Kenya, Ruth Manoti brings her extensive experience, expertise, and deep-rooted passion to lead the organization. With her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to advancing gender equality, human rights, and sustainable development, she is at the forefront of fostering positive change within grassroots communities.
